Here Comes the Groom - Psalm 45

"¹My heart flows over with good words. I sing my songs to the King. My tongue writes the words of a good writer. ²You are more beautiful than the children of men. Lovingfavor is poured upon Your lips. So God has honored You forever. ³Put Your sword on at Your side, O Powerful One, in Your greatness and power that can be seen. ⁴And in Your great power, move on to win the fight for truth and for not having pride and for what is right and good. Let Your right hand teach You to do great things. ⁵Your arrows are sharp. The people fall under You. Your arrows are in the heart of those who hate the King.
⁶O God, Your throne is forever and ever. You rule Your holy nation by what is right. ⁷You have loved what is right and good. You have hated what is wrong. That is why God, Your God, has chosen You. He has poured over You the oil of joy more than over anyone else. ⁸All Your clothes smell of fine perfumes. Out of ivory palaces music of strings have made You glad. ⁹Daughters of kings are among Your women of honor. At Your right hand stands the queen, wearing gold from Ophir. ¹⁰Listen, O daughter, hear my words and think about them. Forget your people and your father's house. ¹¹Then the King will desire your beauty. Because He is your Lord, bow down to Him. ¹²And the daughter of Tyre will come with a gift. The rich people will ask for your favor. ¹³The daughter of the King is beautiful within. Her clothes are made with gold. ¹⁴She will be led to the King in clothes sewed for beauty. The young women who have never had men are her friends. They follow her and will be brought to You. ¹⁵They will be led in with joy and happiness, because they will come into the King's palace. ¹⁶Instead of Your fathers, it will be Your sons whom You will make rulers over all the earth. ¹⁷I will make Your name to be remembered to all the children. So that the nations will honor You forever and ever."

I. Admire His Countenance: "You are fairer than the sons of men" (Psalm 45:2).

A. He Looks Good

a. Give him preference - put his needs in front of yours

b. Ask him questions - ask him for counsel and help before your assume things

c. Include him in activities and conversations - don't live separate lives

d. Defer decisions - let your husband know that you trust him to do the best

B. He Sounds Good

1. We need to be gracious to one another

2. Two things in speaking gracious words to one another

a. Don't call each other names - you can either buildup or tear down with your words

b. Don't betray confidences - do not poision your family and friends with

C. He Does Good (3-5)

1. Knights in armor look for damsels in distress (Riding, Wielding, Slaying)

2. The bride needs to be a companion of the groom

D. He is Good

1. Don't lie to your husband

2. Ways to be honest

a. Admit your faults - say your sorry often

b. Reveal your feelings - cold shoulders are not acceptable

c. Let him be honest with you - give him the freedom to speak his mind

II. Abide in His Castle: "The royal daughter is all glorious within the palace...She shall be brought to the King in robes of many colors" (Psalm 45:13-14).

A. His Eternal Throne

1. He is going to share his throne with you

2. He will share his authroity with you

3. He will share his kingdom with you

B. His Anointed Palace

III. Accept His Counsel: "Listen, O daughter, Consider and incline your ear; Forget your own people also, and your father's house" (Psalm 45:10).

A. We Listen - "lean in and bend down"

B. We Leave - focus on your husband as you leave your family

C. He is your lord worship him - submit to your husband as unto the Lord
