Philippians 2:14-16
"How to Glow in the Dark"

Gospelcom Bible Gateway

Php 2:14 Do all things without complaining and disputing, 15 that you may become blameless and harmless, children of God without fault in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world, 16 holding fast the word of life, so that I may rejoice in the day of Christ that I have not run in vain or labored in vain.17 Yes, and if I am being poured out as a drink offering on the sacrifice and service of your faith, I am glad and rejoice with you all. 18 For the same reason you also be glad and rejoice with me.

INTRODUCTION:

C.Are you moved to compassion for others?

2. Are you Shinning?

B. How bright are you shinning? Can others see your light?

C. Would they call you a light, or would they not even know

3. Are you living?

A. Do your actions speak as loud as your words?

B. Do you let Gods light in your life, home, at work, with friends

4. Are you telling?

A. Have you ever shared the Gospel with someone? When was the last time?

B. Are you telling people what God has done in your life? How often?

Are you inviting people to church? When was the last time?

5. What are some practical steps you can do to shine better and brighter this week?

An old South County adage says, “Wanna glow in the dark? Surf at San Onofre!” Of course it’s a tongue-in-cheek reference to radiation from the nuclear power plant near the ocean here. But here, Paul tells Christians how to glow in the dark surroundings of their world. We must resist the pull to become like everyone else and celebrate our uniqueness as God’s children: we must stand out brightly against the darkness of our society.

There are three main things we can do to help us “glow” in the darkness around us…

I. Realize the Condition of the World (Vs15)

II. Recognize Your Position in the World (Vs15)

III. Advertise Your Vocation to the World (Vs 14, 16) (The How)

Taking it home:

Begin by asking God to change your attitude towards your work duties and the people you work with so you will have something to say to them that they will listen to you.
