Acts 2:47; Revelation 4-5
The Priority of Praise
Gospelcom Bible Gateway

INTRODUCTION:

A. We can worship the Lord anywhere we happen to be.We have become a generation that plays at our worship. Praise and worship will continue all through eternity. Worship and praise is a priority in heaven. It's the right and correct response to God. Awestruck and grateful are all creatures in heaven, they treat God like royalty.

C. Worship involves humility. The act of worship shifts focus off of us and onto God, it's all about the Lord. Some people don't enter into worship because they can't seem to get their focus off of themselves. Worship is selfless.

III. Praise Ascribed in Worship (Rev 5:9)

A. Music used in Worship. Music is powerful as an influence. Music can be a powerful servant to praise. Early Christians sang songs that they probably learned in the temple as children. Psalm 150 says praise the Lord with music. The early Christians sang too.

B. Is music, regardless of the style, good or bad? Music, any style, is neither good nor bad, it depends who is using it.

C. Was there music in the early church? What was the music like in the early church? Can we at least deduce that the music was loud and rythmic?

D. Does there need to be new praise music or should we continue to sing old hymns? They sang 'a new song'. The concept of singing a new song is found 9 times in scripture.

E. What should our attitude be toward worshiping the Lord with our voices?

F. Reference 1 Chronicles 15. What did David do with regard to music?

G. Does the Bible say anything about our singing technique or quality?

APPLICATION:

1. Take expanded time today in your small group to worship our Lord

2. Sing some hymns, and new songs.

3. Be expressive in your worship.
