The Food Bank Ministry at Ocean Hills Church exists to take care of those in the local community both spiritually and practically. We first want to share the love of Christ by encouraging and caring for those who come as well as spreading the good news of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Practically we are here to help those in need by distributing food and daily necessities. We want to supplement the food supplies of low-income families and others with financial difficulties. We offer non-perishable foods as well as produce and meat when available.
The food program operates on the donations received from the Ocean Hills congregation and from local retailers. We purchase most of the food from the Second Harvest Food Bank located in Orange. 95% of the food we use comes from the food bank. The remainder of the food comes from retail food companies such as Albertsons, Ralphs, Pavilions, etc.
The food ministry is open every Thursday from 9 am-12:30 pm. A Bible study is offered both in Spanish and English before the food program begins distribution at 9 am.
There are several areas of opportunity to serve in this ministry ranging from, helping stock shelves Wednesday mornings, helping with local grocery pickups, distributing food on Thursdays, and more. If you are interested in reaching out to our community through this ministry, contact Michael Lutz.
