The consequences of Judea willfully choosing other gods
The sin in Judea was so great that God would discipline his own people and not hear the prayers of intercession.
How does God indicate it is now too late to ward off his discipline and the pending disaster? (v. 15: 1-2)
God in time past has answered Moses and Samuel (Psalm 99:6)
What four forms of destruction are appointed over Judea? (v. 15: 3)
Why is Judea being punished? (v. 15:4)
What did King Manasseh do in Jerusalem during his reign? (2 Chronicles 33:1-9)
Who did Manasseh worship?
How did the practices Manasseh established in Judea compare to neighboring countries?
What objects did Manasseh build?
What did Manasseh do to his sons?
What impact was Manasseh on the future generations of Judea?
God takes personal responsibility for disciplining Judea (v. 15: 7-8)

Reassurance given by God
How does God reassure Jeremiah? (v. 15:11, 19-21)
What instructions did God give Jeremiah to reduce his own suffering? (v. 16: 1-8)
What shall be Jeremiah’s response to Judea when they ask what this great disaster has befallen upon them? (v. 16:10-13)
Who was worse? Manasseh and his generation or the generation in Judea during Jeremiah’s time (v. 16:11)
Restoration is coming
It had been said that the Lord brought his people out of the land of Egypt. What shall be the new saying in the land after the restoration?
What must be accomplished before the restoration? (v. 16:18)
APPLICATION:
People of God who are disobedient are a menace and poor example to world.
Judgment must begin at the house of God.
Jeremiah had a very personal relationship with God. He was hated by his own people and communicated a message of pending disaster to his own people. He poured out his heart to God in his own dejection and despair. Do you open up and show you frustration to God when confronted with difficult situations? Is there something that you are struggling with that you haven’t taken to God? Do you share things with God like you do your best friend? Tell God how you feel. Pour out you complaints. You are in a safe place when talking with God.
If you are persecuted, be persecuted for righteousness sake. Don’t be persecuted as a result of being an obnoxious kook.
Gods’ people love God’s word. We should love the word because we love the author. When reading the Bible read it with a sense that the author has a deep love for you.
It can be said about Judea in the time of Jeremiah that each one walked in the image of his own evil heart. Does this sound like the USA? Who or what do you worship?
The Lord is alive and working. Is he working in your life? Can you demonstrate a fresh expression of you love for God?
